Newtype USA is the official English-language version of Newtype, the leading anime and manga magazine in Japan. Established in Japan circa 1984 and published by Kadodawa Shoten, Newtype has long been considered the bible of Japanese animation, and ADV's announcement of an English-language version in 2002 was cause for tremendous excitement among English-speaking fans of animation.

Newtype USA includes approximately 50 percent content translated from the Japanese magazine, with the other 50 percent original content, produced specifically for Newtype USA.
