"...a cute bubbly story about a girl full of determination."

"So whether you start with the second season or the first season, get Kaleido Star!"

"The artwork for this series is absolutely beautiful."

It?s a blast from the past as the Fool reveals Sora?s journey to becoming a Kaleido Star. But Sora?s glory is short lived as two new rivals appear at Kaleido Stage and steal the spotlight from Sora. As the dashing Leon Oswald usurps her stage time, an Asian beauty named May Wong appears and proclaims herself the next Layla Hamilton. She is certain to win a leading role, and if she?s lucky, Leon?s attention. But they are not the only unexpected newcomers to Kaleido Stage. One little runaway will find herself in some very hot water thanks to Sora?s never-ending eagerness to help!

The first two episodes of the second season of Kaleido Star is spent reminiscing about the past and the journey Sora had to take to become one of the brightest stars of the Kaleido Stage. Every important moment of what she went through is highlighted; her struggles with herself and the others and how she made friends with those that did not want to accept her.

The new season story starts with the third episode. Now with Layla gone from the Kaleido Stage, Sora now takes it upon herself to make sure that it?s a success. She does what she can to promote and bring in an audience. With so much enthusiasm, how can she fail? But does she really need to do such things to draw attention to the Kaleido Stage?

As talented as Sora is, Leon, the new headliner in the Kaleido Stage, thinks she is beneath him and refuses to perform with her. He even goes as far as to leave the stage when she appears and even threatens to leave after having changed his mind about working with her. When confronted, Sora finds out that their thoughts about performing are different, but she knows that they need him.

Convincing Leon to stay isn?t the only problem that Sora will face. A new talent appears and threatens to take away her spotlight, proclaiming herself the new Layla, the new star of the Kaleido Stage.

I haven?t watched the first season of Kaleido Stage and after having seen volume one of the second season, I?ll definitely be grabbing up the DVDs of the first season. It?s a cute bubbly story about a girl full of determination. But like any young girl, Sora has doubts about herself. The friends that surround her prove to be what a true friend should be and they pick her up, dust her off, and guide her.

The artwork for this series is absolutely beautiful. The costumes each of the character?s wears are amazing. When the climax of the performance is reached, it becomes a magical sight to behold, just like if you were sitting in the audience and watching something like this performed live in front of you. Everything is so bright and crisp. The opening and ending themes are perfect, complimenting the art so well.

You don?t necessarily have to watch the first season to watch the second season because of the recaps the first two episodes go through, but if you?re like me, it?ll irk you to no end not to have seen it first. So whether you start with the second season or the first season, get Kaleido Star!
