As the battle rages on between the Orga and the Gilgamesh over possession of Dr. Madoka's children, Kiyoko finds herself at the crossroads. Should she stay with the Countess or run away? One thing is for certain, she doesn?t want to do anything with her father and wants be left alone. Meanwhile her brother Tatsuya is becoming skilled in his psychic ability, gaining strength, and leaning towards an alliance with the Countess and the Orga.
Tablet 2: Cage Without A Key includes four episodes. The mysterious gothic aspect continues to be in the forefront of this series, but the sexual side of it has intensified. I for one was a bit surprised with the overt sexuality in this volume. There was a touch of it the first disc but the sexual references and actions are now more visible in this volume of Gilgamesh.
The drama and the dialog have intensified as well. For one, the scene where the Countess and Kiyoko are exchanging words inside a torture chamber in the Hotel Providence was very exceptional. In this scene, I watched it in both English and Japanese and I must say that the English voice actresses (Shelly Calene-Black and Alice Fulks) did a better job of conveying the emotional hatred between the two characters than their Japanese counterparts. You could actually feel the tension in the scene; it's brilliant, something you don?t normally see in anime.
Once again, Beethoven?s Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-Flat Major was utilized at the precise scenes during the show. The piece has become part of the story of Gilgamesh.
Although not much conflict between the two factions occurs on this disc, one of the battles depicts that the Gilgamesh are not invincible. Also, on Episode 9, Orga has to protect a facility that will become a major part of the story.
