"In a genre dominated by cuteness, fan service, mechas and the like, it is refreshing to see a series that has a strong background story and is very realistic in nature. "

Yugo the Negotiator, an anime series based on a manga that started in 1994 and continuously published, finally made its way to DVD. In the first story arc of this series, Yugo Beppu, the greatest negotiator in the world has been hired by a woman to rescue her father from captivity in Pakistan. Relying only on his wits and sharp tongue, he heads to Pakistan where he must confront a fierce mercenary that leads a group of guerillas, and who will only deal with a ?true hero?.

The first three episodes moved at a slow pace in order to lay the foundation for such an intense story, incorporating psychological suspense for the upcoming episodes. Nevertheless, the setup hold your interest. In a genre dominated by cuteness, fan service, mechas and the like, it is refreshing to see a series that has a strong background story and is very realistic in nature.

About being realistic, the authenticity of the location and linguistics is as real as you can get in an animated series. The creator of the series made sure that all the aesthetics of Pakistan, the city of Karachi and the languages are authentic and exact. Having had their hands full on keeping true to the nature of the anime, ADV did a great job of keeping its accuracy intact.
