Azumanga Daioh Vol.6 Wins Best DVD of November on AOD
HOUSTON, January 11, 2005?Continuing with its winning streak, ADV Films brought in the Best DVD of the Month for November on AnimeOnDVD.com, one of the top fan websites for anime news and reviews, with volume six of the hilarious new title Azumanga Daioh.
Often referred to as the Seinfeld of anime for it?s skill in finding blistering humor in the most mundane situations, Azumanga Daioh is based on the hit graphic novel series from ADV Manga?, and wryly reflects the trials and foibles of high school life through the eyes of an odd assortment of young women and their even odder teachers. If you ever counted the minutes on a clock or pined for the cute girl on the other side of the class, Azumanga Daioh is certain to make you laugh out loud.
Produced by Genco (Serial Experiments Lain) and JC Staff (Excel Saga), this acclaimed anime series premiered in early 2002 in Japan. The English version of the series was released in North America by ADV Films beginning April 27, 2004 and directed by the popular ADR director Don Rush with the voice acting talent of Christine Auten, Luci Christian, and Monica Rial, to mention only a few. ADV Manga? released the popular Azumanga Daioh manga series around the same time last year to the delight of anime fans.
The monthly AOD award is chosen by fans in an open vote to all registered AOD members. ADV Films has grabbed a leadership position, holding the most Best Of awards, including three other ADV titles, Chrono Crusade, Kaleido Star and Neon Genesis Evangelion.
