ADV Films Announces Volume 2 of Farscape: Starburst Edition

HOUSTON, December 22, 2004 - ADV Films returns you to the unusual (in a good way) end of the universe with the release of Farscape: Starburst Edition, Collection Two, the second expanded and updated volume of the sci-fi classic, now scheduled to land in stores on January 18, 2005!

This terrific new 2-disc collection includes 7 complete episodes, in-depth video profiles of the cast, three newly recorded audio commentaries with the cast and crew, and tons of new behind the scenes information that die-hard fans of this fantasy-sci-fi-drama-romance-comedy-adventure-space odyssey will love.

As part of the release for the brand new Starburst collection, ADV Films hosted a special online chat session with Farscape?s Executive Producer David Kemper and ADV producer Chip Schneider, who produced many of the new extras for the Starburst Edition. The online chat was held Friday, November 12 from 7:00 ? 8:00 pm CST and was attended by a large number of Farscape fans eager to ask their most pressing questions on the stellar sci-fi series.

The transcript for the entire chat session can be found at the ADV Films homepage (http://www.advfilms.com/chat/chat_farscapetrans.asp). Stay tuned for more exciting online chat sessions with more opportunities to find out the answers you are dying to know straight from the source.

?There?s life out here? Weird, amazing, psychotic life. And in Technicolor.? Lost, but not at all alone, astronaut John Crichton (Ben Browder) is trapped in a distant part of the universe -- where the rules from home don?t apply. Onboard a massive, living ship named Moya, he?s trying his best to get along with a bizarre crew of escaped alien prisoners who can?t agree on much of anything. Trust them? Hardly. But he?s intrigued by the beautiful, and fiercely independent Aeryn Sun (Claudia Black), a soldier deemed ?contaminated? by her strict society ? the Peacekeepers. All Crichton knows for sure is? he?s trying to find a way home.

Farscape is an adventure as broad and weird as the universe -- full of strange creatures, bizarre twists, irreverent humor, raucous action, passion, and romance! Produced in Australia by The Jim Henson Company and Hallmark Entertainment, Farscape has been called ?The Best Sci-Fi on TV,? by TV Guide, and hailed as ?TV?s Best Space Series? by USA Today. Farscape also received the Saturn Award for Best Syndicated/Cable Series three years in a row (2001, 2002, 2003).

Since its debut in 1999, Farscape has built a large, devoted fan base. Farscape airs in countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Sweden, France and Australia. Farscape also spawned a successful merchandising program including trading cards, action figures, video games, comic books, novels, clothing and apparel, and other items distributed by top licensees.

This collection includes one of the most entertaining commentaries ever recorded for Farscape ? the new ?When Bad Things Happen to Good Shows? commentary for Jeremiah Crichton, featuring stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black, series creator Rockne S. O?Bannon, and Executive Producer David Kemper. Not usually considered one of Farscape?s most stellar moments, Jeremiah Crichton prompted a hilarious and informative discussion of what works ? what sooo doesn?t ? and why.

Farscape: Starburst Edition Collection Two (SRP $24.98) is a DVD-only release, including 7 complete episodes on two double-sided discs, with audio presented in English 5.1 and 2.0. Episodes in this collection: That Old Black Magic, DNA Mad Scientist, They've Got a Secret, Till the Blood Runs Clear, Rhapsody in Blue, The Flax, and Jeremiah Crichton. Packed with a drenload of extras, including: Video profiles of Virginia Hey (Zhaan), Anthony Simcoe (D?Argo), and Rygel XVI (featuring Head Puppeteer John Eccleston). Two never-before-released audio commentaries for pivotal episode DNA Mad Scientist - The Actors (Ben Browder & Claudia Black) & The Producers (Rockne S. O? Bannon & David Kemper) recorded exclusively for the Starburst Edition. A never-before-released audio commentary for Jeremiah Crichton (The ?When Bad Things Happen to Good Shows? commentary with Ben Browder, Claudia Black, Rockne S. O?Bannon, & David Kemper) recorded exclusively for the Starburst Edition. The Farscape Chronicles by Paul Simpson author of Farscape: The Illustrated Companion (including behind the scenes information about every episode featuring new insights from series creator Rockne S. O?Bannon). New Cool Farscape Facts, also by Paul Simpson. Alien Encounters. Greatly expanded image galleries: Conceptual Art, Zhaan, D?Argo, & Rygel XVI. ADV previews.
