ADV FILMS ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR GAMERA: REVENGE OF IRIS

THE STOMPING CONTINUES! THIRD AND FINAL FEATURE-LENGTH VOLUME OF LEGENDARY GAMERA TRILOGY TO BE AVAILABLE JUNE 10 2003

?ADV Films today announced a street date of June 10 2003 for the first-ever DVD release of Gamera: Revenge of Iris the third and final volume in the enormously influential Gamera trilogy starring the immense fighting turtle of the same name. Popularized in Japan in a series of films in the 1960s Gamera was brought back in the 1990s combining the heart of the original titles with new actors new plots and cutting-edge special effects. ADV?s release includes both English- and Japanese-language versions with English subtitles.

Gamera: Revenge of Iris was directed by Shusuke Kaneko from a screenplay by Kaneko and Kazunori Ito screenwriter of the legendary anime film Ghost in the Shell. Special effects are by Shinji Higuchi.

The Story:
Still reeling after the hard-fought battle to repel Legion Japan is now reminded of a deadly foe from the past. The Gyaos have returned and this time the ornery man-eating birds have not only increased their numbers but also added a menacing new member?Iris?to their destructive little club. Raised by a young girl whose parents Gamera accidentally squished the flying blood-sucking squid monster Iris takes her learned hatred and goes out on the warpath. Dr. Nagamine and Inspector Osaka are reunited to help Gamera in his relentless quest to protect and save the human race. Can Gamera ground the Gyaos? Can the turtle tie up the terrible tentacles? Do the hapless humans and the rowdy reptile have what it takes to thwart the revenge of Iris?

Gamera: Revenge of Iris (SRP $19.98) is a DVD-only release including English- and Japanese-language versions with English subtitles. Extras include: an interview with the Director of Special Effects; Gamera press conference; original Japanese theatrical trailer; original Japanese TV spots; Behind-the-Scenes in Japan; outtakes; commentary by Gamera; and ADV Previews.
