?ADV Films today announced a street date of April 29 2003 for the first-ever DVD release of Gamera: Attack of Legion the second volume in the enormously influential trilogy starring the immense fighting turtle Gamera. Popularized in Japan in a series of films in the 1960s Gamera was brought back in the 1990s combining the heart of the original titles with new actors new plots and cutting-edge special effects. ADV?s release includes both English- and Japanese-language versions with English subtitles.

Like Gamera: Guardian of the Universe Gamera: Attack of Legion was directed by Shusuke Kaneko from a screenplay by Kazunori Ito screenwriter of the legendary anime film Ghost in the Shell. Special effects are by Shinji Higuchi.

The Story:
From the same crew who brought us the effects-juiced Gamera: Guardian of the Universe comes an even more CGI-enhanced adventure for our tortugan hero: A freak meteor shower near Sapporo Japan brings with is more than just a killer light show. Electrical problems over-grown plant life and a whole slew of rather irritable critters also drop in to threaten the human race. Local science instructor Midori Honami (Miki Mizuno) is called to assist the brave Colonel Watarase (Toshiyuki Nagashima) in the military?s oft-confused attempts to save mankind. They must find a way to successfully combine efforts with their reptilian protector or both will face ultimate distruction from the Earth?s bugged-out invaders. Join the battle as Gamera and his bipedal pals work to repel the Attack of Legion!

Gamera: Attack of Legion (SRP $19.98) is a DVD-only release including English- and Japanese-language versions with English subtitles. Extras include: an interview with the director; Gamera press conference; original Japanese theatrical trailers; original Japanese TV spots; behind-the-scenes in Japan; Gamera promotional events; opening night in Japan; Lake Tekarkana Gamera and ADV Previews.
